Austin Picanha Truck Plots Sizzling Steakhouse Takeover on Bastrop’s Chestnut Street

Austin food truck Espadas de Brazil, known for picanha and other churrasco-style plates, is trading its wheels for walls in downtown Bastrop. Owner Robinson Figueiredo plans to open a full Brazilian steakhouse at 1507 Chestnut St in the former Stem & Stone space, with the dining room expected to debut later this spring.

According to Community Impact, Espadas will take over the old Stem & Stone location at 1507 Chestnut St and is slated to open by late spring. The outlet also reports that Figueiredo intends to keep the food truck and catering side of the business rolling, including regular service at The Boring Bodega on FM 1209 in Bastrop.

From food truck to churrasco house

Espadas de Brazil is already teasing its next chapter online, with a Bastrop location billed as “Coming Spring 2026.” On its site, the brand states, “From our food truck roots to a full Brazilian steakhouse experience, we’re thrilled to bring authentic churrasco to Bastrop,” and shares a brief history of its Austin beginnings. The teaser is featured on Espadas de Brazil.

What to expect

Local coverage says the Bastrop restaurant will stick to Espadas’ strengths, focusing on meat-forward churrasco plates alongside Brazilian sides. WhatNow reports the company has announced on social media that it is hiring for the new spot, a sign that the buildout is moving along.

The truck’s online menu, listed on Best Food Trucks, highlights picanha sandwiches, spicy garlic picanha, gaucho plates, mandioca frita, and guaraná, offering a preview of what diners might see on the Bastrop steakhouse menu…
