Bear sighting in Old Colorado City captured on camera

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — There was another bear sighting in Colorado Springs this week, this time, on the West Side. FOX21 News viewer, Mike Romero, shared a video of two bears spotted in a yard in Old Colorado City near Bott Park on Thursday morning, May 14.

The video was captured just before 4 a.m. on Thursday. One of the bears was seen quickly exiting the yard and climbing over the fence, while the second bear took a longer stroll on camera and was seen for about 30 seconds before the video ended.

Dry soil could mean more bears in cities

“This is the first time I’ve seen these bears; however, we have bear sightings/issues several times a year in spring/summer,” Romero told FOX21.

Other recent bear sightings in Colorado Springs include a bear rescued from a tree on April 29 on Crooked Arrow Lane, near Palmer Park and North Powers Boulevards. Another sighting was on May 5, when Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) officers responded to a home in Falcon after a bear fell asleep in a window well.

CPW continues to urge the public to be BearWise as the animals become more active this spring…
