Reports: Man who shot Colorado dad protecting toddler pleads guilty to second-degree murder

CASTLE ROCK, Colo. — A Colorado mom is one step closer to learning the fate of the man police believe killed her son. According to reports, Tamarius Davis pleaded guilty Wednesday to second-degree murder in the 2021 shooting death of Dustin Wakefield.

Wakefield, who lived in Castle Rock, was vacationing in Florida when Davis entered the restaurant where he was dining with his wife and 1-year-old son and shot him at random, police said.
