FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) — Residents at Brooklyn Manor, an apartment for people 55 and older at 3626 Brooklyn Avenue and run by the Fort Wayne Housing Authority (FWHA), are not happy the building’s only elevator has been out of service since March 12.
“I had surgery last week,” one resident told 15 Finds Out, “and here I am, still suffering because I’m having to struggle to bring up groceries to my damn apartment from this elevator being out for two months. I am in dire pain.”
Dana Christian, who just started her role as CEO of FWHA in April, said the elevator was fried by a direct lightning strike, and the Housing Authority has both the effort and money to fix it “as quickly as possible.”…
