Nashville mayor discusses Waymo enforcement

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – Mayor Freddie O’Connell said he has not ridden in one of the driverless vehicles yet, but emphasized the importance of police having clearance to enforce traffic laws on them during his roundtable meeting Friday.

Tennessee recently passed a law allowing officers to issue traffic citations to a vehicle’s registered owner. But O’Connell said more needs to be done.

“I’m aware of multiple different, I’d say, interesting incidents that have occurred on Waymos on Nashville streets so far. We would love to have a little more local regulatory there,” O’Connell said…
