Swatting Incidents Creating Concerns For Nebraska Schools

Nebraska- From Lincoln to Sidney, police from around Nebraska have responded to swatting calls at multiple schools across the state this year, with a recent wave of calls this week impacting several schools, including Central Elementary in Kearney, Grand Island Senior High, North Platte High School, and more.

Earlier this month, Lincoln Police responded to a call on May 5th at Calvert Elementary. And before that, Sidney police responded to calls on February 26th and March 4th of swatting calls. This also includes the swatting call Wayne Public Schools had received towards the end of January this year, with all the incidents aimed at the realization that schools, and businesses, have been impacted with the significant surge in swatting calls.

According to the FBI, swatting is a tactic used to call in false reports to emergency responders. Throughout the year, police have responded to the calls in various areas around the state, causing sweeps conducted through the schools, lockdowns, and even evacuations of the school building…
