OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Visit Overland Park said hotels will be sold out for a competitive softball tournament happening a week before the World Cup kicks off in Kansas City. However, hotels are still waiting to see that kind of demand during the World Cup.
“I was a little worried for a while, but I am gaining some confidence that we’re going to see a lot more people booking rooms,” Director of Sales and Marketing for Double Tree Hotel in Overland Park, Rochelle Kolseth, said.

Kolseth said the demand during the World Cup is lower than what they forecast, but she still anticipates meeting or exceeding numbers from last year.
