A San Jose man was arrested after investigators found more than $8,000 worth of stolen golf balls stashed in his home, authorities said Saturday.
William Pu, 41, is suspected of hitting Target stores in Cupertino and San Jose more than 21 times since February, the Santa Clara Sheriff’s Office said in a statement. The San Jose Police Department launched an investigation after the stores reported $4,500 in balls missing.
When police officers and deputies from the sheriff’s Retail Theft Task Force searched Pu’s home on Pas Los Cerritos, they found a stockpile of golf balls still in their packaging. Photos released by the sheriff’s office show stacks of boxed golf balls, as well as a pile of empty Target bags…
