Rescued research beagles learn love in Dane County

DANE COUNTY, Wis. — In a safe house near Sun Prairie, former laboratory beagles are beginning a life many of them have never known — one with soft voices, gentle hands and the freedom to simply be dogs.

The rescued beagles are currently staying there as volunteers help them adjust to life outside research facilities for the very first time. Eventually, the dogs will be rehabilitated and prepared for adoption through several organizations locally and across the country.
