Knoxville man accused of pistol-whipping woman taken into custody, police say

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) – The Knoxville Police Department said a man wanted for aggravated assault was taken into custody Saturday afternoon.

According to arrest warrants obtained by WVLT News, officers spoke to a woman late Friday night who said 31-year-old Matthew Childress, of Knoxville, pistol-whipped her about six or seven times after a verbal altercation, resulting in a swollen eye and a gash on the side of her head.
