A nearly-century-old mini golf course in the Deco District is celebrating its reopening this weekend.
Cool Crest Miniature Golf, located at 1402 Fredericksburg Road, celebrated its grand reopening on Saturday after being closed during renovations and an ownership switch. The course has been open since March, but celebrated the reopening with a shindig on Saturday featuring food trucks and live music.
One of the nation’s oldest mini golf courses, the art deco-inspired course opened in 1929. While the history of Cool Crest’s early years is unclear, Harold Metzger leased the 18-hole course from its original owners in 1937. They owned it until 2010, adding a second course around 1960…
