KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — Knoxville’s Community Development Corporation (KCDC) is looking for a developer for 15 acres along the Tennessee River with green space, riverfront access, and residential and commercial buildings.
The site is directly across from the University of Tennessee campus, near the planned pedestrian bridge. This is the most significant of the city’s last remaining undeveloped riverfront sites, according to KCDC.

On Monday morning, KCDC and the city government announced that they were seeking proposals for a group to lead the development of the site, which includes 1,400 feet along the river. KCDC hopes the development will strengthen connections between neighborhoods in South Knoxville. It added that its vision was based on community input.
“We’re excited to move forward to redevelop this site and realize goals shaped by South Knoxville residents and the overall community,” said Ben Bentley, CEO and executive director for KCDC. “We’re seeking a qualified master developer with experience in urban, mixed-use waterfront developments, ideally multi-story residential with ground-floor opportunities.”…
