Knox County, TN (WOKI / WVLT) – Former Knox County Sheriff J.J. Jones and Assistant Chief Deputy David Amburn turned themselves in Monday at the Knox County Courthouse following indictments in a wide-ranging theft conspiracy case.
According to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, Jones and Amburn are among more than a dozen current and former Knox County Sheriff’s Office employees charged after a years-long investigation involving the department’s Narcotics Unit and Special Investigations Unit.
Investigators say the case centers on allegations that individuals used a KCSO-issued credit card for personal purchases between 2010 and 2018. Those purchases reportedly included electronics, hunting equipment and home renovation materials, totaling more than 300-thousand dollars.
