With a barn and a herd of cows just a few yards behind him, Rep. John Rose emphasized his agricultural experience and the support farmers in Tennessee will have if he is elected the state’s next governor during a campaign event on May 16 at Comer Farms in Lebanon.
The Republican candidate for governor, who lives on a farm in Smith County that has been in his family since 1790, briefly served as Tennessee’s Agriculture Commissioner before being elected to Congress in 2018 to represent a district that includes Wilson County.
“We have to make sure farmers are financially successful,” Rose told the audience of about 75 people, many of whom sat on hay bales to listen to him answer questions about campaign issues and his qualifications to be governor.
