LIVERPOOL, N.Y. — Liverpool Central School District voters will head to the polls on Tuesday to decide on a proposed budget aimed at closing a nearly $17 million deficit, a plan that includes cutting dozens of positions and raising the tax levy.
District officials say rising transportation costs, employee benefits, and specialized services have created a nearly $17 million budget gap. To help close it, the district is proposing to eliminate 78 jobs across the district, including aides, support staff and teaching assistants.
