More than a decade ago, a movie and a notebook set Joel Fried on a new path. After watching the 2014 film “Chef” while visiting Dallas, Fried left the theater inspired. On the drive back to Austin, he stopped at a 7-Eleven, bought a notebook and began sketching out ideas for a restaurant.
Years later, those notes became Eldorado Cafe.
Since opening on Aug. 8, 2017, the Mexican restaurant at 3300 W. Anderson Lane has built a loyal following for its breakfast plates and extensive vegan offerings. Now, the neighborhood favorite is preparing for its next phase: an expansion that will nearly double its size…
