Helmet use, road awareness urged following death of Lafayette bicyclist hit by vehicle

LAFAYETTE, La. (NEWS 15) — A Lafayette man died after being struck by a car while riding an e-bike, marking the first deadly bicyclist crash of 2026 in the city.

The Lafayette Police Department reported David Lanclos, 67, of Lafayette, was crossing Camellia Boulevard near Woods Crossing when a car making a left turn onto Camellia hit him.

The injured cyclist was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he died from head trauma…
