New Paisans for Archer and Cicero; Chase Bank to build on SW Highway

Greetings to all! I want to thank everyone who called me last week with opinions and concerns and news to share. I got a few calls about the property at Southwest Highway and Cicero.

I originally reported that a Paisans Pizzeria restaurant is planned for that large corner space. I got the information from a spokesperson for Paisans. It turns out that a new Paisans is not planned for that space after all because there is an existing one not too far from that location. I did find out that Chase Bank bought the property for almost 3 million dollars and that a new Chase Bank branch will be built.

I also asked about the Paisans restaurant planned for the corner of Archer and Cicero. I was told that construction is to begin soon. I don’t know why there has been such a lengthy delay. If you recall, the Paisans on Pulaski and 64th took years to complete due to problems with non-union labor and contracts. We will have to wait and see what happens.

I was hoping for something a little more exciting at the former Jedi’s Garden location. I suppose another Chase Bank is better than nothing. Wouldn’t it be nice if the bank would celebrate their grand opening by giving out free samples?

Cafe 63 closes after a decade

I received a number of calls about Cafe 63 restaurant at 6411 W. 63rd Street. The restaurant closed its doors after 10 years of serving delicious, homestyle cooking. The owners Dale and Donna Andrews got to know their customers by name. Many people told me how much they miss going to Cafe 63. It was a place to gather. One person said “Cafe 63 provided food for the soul.”…
