One of Anderson County’s historic churches, Asbury United Methodist Church, 405 W. Broad St., Clinton, is set to celebrate 161 years of ministry on Sunday, May 24, with a “spirit-filled” worship service at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m.
The theme for this occasion is “Rooted in Christ, Growing in Faith.” The scripture is “‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future’“ (Jeremiah 29:11 NIV) The Rev. Lee C. Radford, the pastor, will deliver the message at 11 a.m., and music will be rendered by the 161st Anniversary Choir.
