LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — Organizers at The Nest say the new homeless shelter and daytime resource hub has only been open for a week, but has already helped dozens of people across the Lansing area.
The facility was opened following the closure of Holy Cross Services’ New Hope Community Center. Organizers say the goal is to make sure people experiencing homelessness continue to have a safe place to stay and access to support services without interruption.
The director of The Nest compared the closed facility with what they plan to do at the new facility.
“We could feasibly get up to 200 people for meals,” Jennifer Sayler said, director of The Nest. “With the new building opening, I think the word is still trying to get out there that like, hey, this is a new location where people can go to.”…
