Salad topping sold at Ohio grocery stores recalled for potential salmonella contamination

CINCINNATI (WKRC) – A salad topping sold at Ohio grocery stores was recalled for potentially being contaminated with salmonella.

The Food and Drug Administration issued a recall for croutons sold at Kroger stores in 17 states, including Ohio, after the organization learned the products could be contaminated with salmonella.

“Salmonella is an organism that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems,” the FDA wrote. “Healthy persons infected with Salmonella may experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain.”…
