(WJET/WFXP)– The Edinboro Fire Department has released more details on the house fire that sent smoke towering in the air for miles and required help from several other local departments.
Firefighters said that the fire on Friday, May 15, in the three-story home in the 11000 block of Edinboro Road started in a nearby garage and quickly spread up the back of the house and into the attic.

Due to the quick spread, the Edinboro Fire Department (EFD) said more crews from Millcreek, Cambridge Springs, Perry Hi-Way and Cranesaville were also called to the scene and later caused a smoke explosion in the attic shortly after help arrived.
EFD said that the explosion led to blown-out windows and made the fire conditions more intense, with the roof’s integrity becoming compromised and all crews getting out of the house…
