A small earthquake was detected in the Morris County area early Tuesday afternoon, the sixth quake to occur in New Jersey this year, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
The earthquake was a magnitude 1.8, was centered about 1 miles southeast of Long Valley in Washington Township and occurred about 3.1 miles below the ground at about 1:30 p.m., the USGS reported.
