Stuart to trade storm-battered floating docks for $3M fixed-dock expansion

STUART, Fla. (CBS12) — Construction begins this July on a $3 million project set to transform downtown Stuart’s waterfront into an expansive, storm-resilient boating destination.

The capital improvement project will replace the 5,533-square-foot floating dock and pilings with a modernized, marina-style layout. The new downtown waterfront will also feature a 7,590-quare-foot fixed dock, 1,400-square-foot concrete floating dock, and a 300-square-foot floating vessel platform.

Once complete, the facility will have an additional 26 boat slips, bringing the total to 44. City officials say the expansion design better accommodates the growing demand along the waterfront, giving visiting boaters expanded access to downtown Stuart’s restaurants, retail shops, and community events…
