EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — The Seven Cabins Fire in Southern New Mexico continues to grow, but the incident command team there is expressing optimism about being able to make progress against the blaze.
The fire, burning in the Capitan Mountain Wilderness, is now estimated to have reached 15,858 acres in size with 0 percent containment. The fire has been linked to a fatal plane crash that killed four people last week, but officials have not made that connection clear. Fire officials are listing the cause as “human caused.”
“The fire has been determined to be caused by humans but no specific sub-cause has been defined. They are still investigating into the specific cause beyond human,” the incident command team said in a statement sent to KTSM.
“With the improving weather conditions, combined with increased ground and aviation resources, crews are positioned to make strong progress on incident objectives,” fire officials said…
