Saline Council Approves Well Repairs

Saline City Council approved repairs to Well No. 2 of Saline’s water system for $64,742 at the May 18 meeting. According to Wastewater Superintendent Bill Briggs, the well has gone at least ten years without being pulled and inspected, and upon recent inspections to wells two, three and six, Well No. 2 needed the most work.

“The scope of work includes removal and inspection of the existing pump and motor, overhaul of the motor, replacement of worn pump components, and cleaning and rehabilitation of the well screen,” the May 18 council memorandum reads.

The work follows recent repairs made to Well 5 and will be done by Peerless Midwest, a civil engineering firm that works with municipalities…
