Family of woman killed after warning police sues apartment, ex-boyfriend

BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. (CBS12) — A Palm Beach County judge is set to hear arguments in a wrongful death lawsuit filed by the family of a woman who investigators say was shot and killed in 2023, moments after she warned police that her ex-boyfriend was stalking her.

Investigators say Robens Cesar shot and killed Fridelene Daniel in 2023. Before the killing, Daniel went to the Boynton Beach Police Department and told officers she feared for her life and that Cesar was stalking her. Less than 20 minutes later, she was found dead at her apartment complex.

Daniel’s family has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against several agencies, including the Meadows on the Green condo association and Cesar. The lawsuit alleges the property was in a high-crime area and that the defendants knew or should have known about the risk of violent crime.
