Man convicted in deadly drive-by shooting loses appeal

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — The Providence man who received double life sentences for killing a 24-year-old woman in a drive-by shooting nearly six years ago has lost his bid to have his conviction overturned.

The Rhode Island Supreme Court rejected Isaiah Pinkerton’s attempt to appeal his first-degree murder conviction in connection with the death of Miya Brophy-Baermann back in August 2021.

Pinkerton was found guilty in June 2023 of shooting and killing Brophy-Baermann while she was standing by her parked car on Olney Street in Providence with her boyfriend…
