PENFIELD, N.Y. (WROC) — A heated school board race helped drive voters to the polls in Penfield on Tuesday, where the district’s $136 million budget and a bus purchase proposition were both approved.
The $136 million spending plan passed with 2,466 votes in favor and 1,222 opposed. The budget is a 5.74% increase from the current school year, with roughly $4 million slated for school programming, teacher benefit packages, instruction and other district needs.
Voters also approved a proposition to use more than $2.3 million from the district’s 2024 capital reserve to purchase 14 new school buses. District officials said that funding does not impact the tax levy.
