SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — Reports of LinkedIn layoffs that first surfaced last week have been confirmed in state filings. A Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) notice filed with the Employment Development Department indicates that the social platform for job seekers will be cutting 606 jobs across the State of California.

Of those job cuts, the majority — 585 — are set to occur in the Bay Area. According to the filling, the job cuts are to take place on July 13, impacting employees in San Francisco, Sunnyvale, and Mountain View.
Outside of the Bay Area, a further 21 employees in Carpinteria will lose their jobs. All of the layoffs are permanent, state filings indicate.
The LinkedIn layoffs come at a moment when the tech industry in the Bay Area and beyond is bleeding jobs. A report last week indicated that the number of layoffs in the tech industry in 2026 has already topped 100,000.
