Gas prices hit new highs ahead of Memorial Day weekend

Gas prices all over the country continue to rise—almost to record highs—as one of the busiest travel weekends of the year approaches. National averages for gas this week have reached $4.55 per gallon, and experts project the average could land at $4.80 per gallon from Memorial Day through Labor Day.

In Alabama, the average price per gallon is currently at $4.15.

Where gas prices stand in Huntsville

The national average this time last year was $3.17 per gallon, and $2.75 per gallon in Alabama. Alabama’s gas prices are well below the national average, thankfully for those of us living here, but with a travel-heavy weekend ahead, it might be worth knowing where in Alabama gas prices are the steepest.
