Huntsville drivers warned of major downtown delays on Friday amid events

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — Heavy traffic is expected in downtown Huntsville on Friday as several large events bring increased congestion near the Von Braun Center, according to the Huntsville Police Department.

Huntsville Police Department says traffic will begin building around 4:30 p.m. as attendees leave a large conference at the Von Braun Center while Huntsville High School graduation traffic arrives during the afternoon commute.

Officials warn the overlap could lead to significant delays in the downtown area, especially near key roadways, including:

  • Clinton Avenue
  • Monroe Street
  • Church Street
  • Surrounding Von Braun Center parking garages and lots
