LANSING, Mich. (WILX) – More than 13% of Michigan residents lived in poverty as of 2024, according to U.S. Census data. That translates to more than 1 million people struggling to afford food, gas, and housing.
Michigan Community Action held its annual event Wednesday to shed light on the growing need to address poverty in the state. People who had been living in poverty and worked through it shared their stories during the event.
