DES MOINES, Iowa — A number of school districts in the greater Des Moines area are offering free lunch this summer for children and teens under 18. Some locations are even offering breakfast or cheap, paid meals for adults.
According to Feeding America, one in six Iowan children (16.6%) face food insecurity. Food insecurity in Iowa has increased amid rising grocery prices and SNAP changes.
Note that Des Moines Public Schools has not yet released details for it’s free summer meal program…
