Ahead of the busy Memorial Day weekend, The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission is encouraging campers and boaters to plan ahead, check weather conditions, and put safety first while enjoying Nebraska’s lakes and parks.
Spokesman Greg Wagner says there are some first-come-first-served campsites available across the area. “Check out some of the smaller Salt Valley lakes and some of the more primitive, the more rustic campsites that we have.” Wagner says those campsites will have fewer people.
Some of those lakes include Conestoga, Pawnee and Yankee Hill. Wagner says bring extra supplies, including drinking water, sunscreen, insect repellent, and first-aid items. In addition, be mindful of fire safety and follow any burn restrictions…
