Attorney who represented state in McCook detention center lawsuit named judge

LINCOLN, Neb. — An attorney who helped defend Nebraska in a lawsuit over the ICE detention center in McCook has been appointed as a district court judge.

Gov. Jim Pillen announced Wednesday that he has appointed Jennifer Huxoll of Palmyra as a district court judge in the Third Judicial District representing Lancaster County.

Huxoll has worked for the Nebraska Attorney General’s Office since 2006 and most recently served as civil litigation bureau chief. She represented the state in defending a lawsuit filed by 13 McCook residents and a former state senator concerning the ICE detention center in McCook…
