Storm Track 3 Forecast: Off/on scattered showers and a few stronger storms

A train of disturbances will keep scattered showers and a few thunderstorms in play through the rest of the workweek.

This evening, a few showers are possible over Western Kansas and the Oklahoma Panhandle.

Temperatures will remain cooler than average and quite comfortable.

Here and there showers will be possible overnight with lows cooling mainly to the 40s with a few lower 50s.

More showers will be around on Thursday with highs staying cooler than average in the 60s.

We will stay in the upper 50s to the northwest.

By evening, another wave of showers and a few weak storms will push into western Kansas, rolling down the High Plains to the east.

A storm or two may still be strong coming out of eastern Colorado for hail and high winds.

On Friday, the moisture content of the atmosphere nudges up slightly with an uptick in instability.  A few storms to the west may be robust enough for a strong to severe storm.

Damaging wind and hail would be the main hazards if a storm can get strong enough.

Temperatures will climb further with more 70s.  The east may struggle to get out of the upper 60s.  Clouds will be something we all battle through the rest of the week with breaks of sunshine at times.

The unofficial start to summer is this weekend.  The axis of storms looks to shift west and south.

That said, a few showers or storms may try to form over southern Kansas, but the chance is low. Temperatures will rise over the weekend and into Memorial Day.

The humidity will gradually increase by Monday.  It looks comfortable, overall, and not too sticky — just yet.  Early next week for Memorial Day will be quiet before turning active by mid to late next week.  The humidity will become much more of an uncomfortable thing mid to late next week, just in time for the start of the Wichita Riverfest.
