Authorities identify woman found dead three years ago in Sandoval County

SANDOVAL COUNTY, N.M. (KRQE) – Years after hikers found a body in the Cibola National Forest, investigators said they finally know who that victim was.

It was April 18, 2023, when a group of people walking in the Cibola National Forest found the body of an unknown woman partially submerged in a creek under a bridge along route 165 through Placitas.

Last year, the Sandoval County Sheriff’s Office pleaded for the public’s help identifying ‘Sandoval Star’ who was wearing a dark blue shirt with red stars. On Wednesday, authorities said they’ve made progress in the homicide case identifying the victim as 33-year-old Victoria De La Rosa of Mexico…
