A University of Oregon graduate student was arrested May 19 and booked into the Lane County Jail on a fugitive warrant from Benton County, Washington.
Jerdil Castillo, 31, was arrested by a U.S. Marshal at the MarAbel B. Frohnmayer Music Building on campus, where he works as a graduate employee, for failure to appear for an arraignment on a single count of communicating with a minor for immoral purposes.
According to Washington State law, a person who communicates with a minor for immoral purposes can do so in any form of communication, whether it be face-to-face, telephonic, written or electronic, so long as it is sexual in nature with a minor.
