A newly completed ODOT feasibility study looking at the busy I-71 and I-271 corridor in Medina County found that improving local roads may do far more to reduce congestion and improve safety than redesigning the interstate interchange itself.
The study focused on whether adding missing interstate-to-interstate connections between I-71 and I-271 would significantly improve traffic flow. After a detailed review, ODOT concluded that upgrades to nearby local intersections would provide greater benefits at a much lower cost.
