Report: Worker treated at Erlanger after titanium powder exposure in Amaero blast

BRADLEY COUNTY, Tenn. — We’re learning more about the chemical involved in an explosion that injured 2 workers at an industrial plant in Bradley County.

According to a Chattanooga Fire Department incident report obtained by NewsChannel 9, firefighters responded May 13th to Erlanger Hospital after a patient was exposed to titanium powder during work connected to the Amaero manufacturing facility in Cleveland.

The report says Chattanooga firefighters were called to assist with what was described as a possible hazardous materials decontamination involving titanium powder on a patient.

Crews established a decontamination area outside Erlanger’s emergency room entrance after hospital staff warned the material could react with water.
