CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) — The new director of the Charleston Housing Authority is defending his record after accusations surfaced about his management at his previous job.

Nathan Simms Jr. has been on the job for three weeks. Since then, he has been accused of mismanaging millions at his old job and hiring his friends. His new bosses are now looking into what he did at his old job.

Simms was fired from his last job as housing director in Norfolk, Virginia. Audits followed accusations that he allowed more than $4.3 million in no-bid contracts to occur under his leadership…
