NORRIS, Tenn. — Work has officially started on a long-discussed road project in Norris that will extend Sawmill Road to U.S. Route 441.
According to information provided to the city by the Tennessee Department of Transportation, a pre-construction meeting for the project was held April 30, and Whaley Construction began work on May 11. The estimated completion date is November 15, 2026.
City leaders have discussed the Sawmill Road extension for years as a way to improve access to the area near the existing Sawmill Road dead end, where several industrial and commercial uses are located…
