KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – Three men have been charged under Missouri’s Valentine’s Law in different incidents, the Clay County Prosecutor said.
Valentine’s Law makes it a felony to drive away from a law enforcement officer attempting to make a traffic stop. Clay County officials said they have charged 35 defendants under the law since the beginning of the year.
First Arrest
Officials say on May 15th, Hayden Lilly sped away from Smithville Officers in a stolen Hyundai Sonata after Clay County Deputies tried to pull him over on US 169. Authorities allege Lilly sped through stop signs and across several residential yards before running into a wooded area, where he was later found and taken into custody.
Lilly was charged with aggravated fleeing and felony of tampering with a motor vehicle in the 1st degree. An arrest warrant has been issues and bond set at $100,000.
Second Arrest
On May 17th, Brody Stockton fled from the Missouri State Highway Patrol after a trooper clocked his BMW going 90 mph in a 55 mph zone on I-35 during a chase with another car…
