COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) -If dodging potholes feels like part of your daily commute, the city says it hears you.
Colorado Springs launched its first-ever “Pothole Watch” dashboard Tuesday, giving drivers a new way to track where pothole repairs are happening and how much work crews are getting done. City leaders say the tool is meant to give residents more transparency as crews work to keep up with road damage across the city.
Mayor Yemi Mobolade said crews have already filled more than 35,000 potholes this year, averaging about 450 repairs a day when weather allows. Still, Public Works officials say keeping up has been a challenge. Colorado Springs maintains nearly 6,400 lane miles of roadway, the largest municipal road network in Colorado. Officials also said only about six of the city’s 13 pothole repair trucks are typically up and running because of aging equipment.
