After site plans were filed for the new Home Depot coming to south Ocala, several residents wrote in to share opinions on the topic. Here are a few of those letters:
“I don’t feel that the location for the new Home Depot is the proper location for that type of development. Regardless of noise barriers, the traffic is going to be horrendous and a huge challenge for us seniors to navigate. What is needed is for Publix to be enlarged as it is too small to accommodate the surrounding communities and we need more restaurants in this area. “Ocala is facing a lot of turmoil with the traffic congestion going on. By the looks of the plats, it shows only two entrances, one on State Rd 200 and the other on SW 99th St. The SW 99 st entrance is also the main entrance to the On Top of the World Community. There are traffic jams now going through security gates and I can see longer lines going into this community.
