Haine announces 15-year prison term for man who broke into woman’s home, attacked police officer

Edwardsville, IL — Madison County State’s Attorney Tom Haine announced today that a Granite City man has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for breaking into a woman’s home and attacking a police officer who responded to the scene.

Associate Judge Emily Nielsen on Wednesday sentenced Victor S. Dantzson, 52, to the Illinois Department of Corrections. A jury previously found him guilty of residential burglary, aggravated battery, and threatening a public official.

Evidence at trial showed that, on March 4, 2025, Dantzson used a screwdriver to break into the home of an ex-girlfriend in Granite City. The victim was not home at the time of the break-in, but returned to find Dantzson inside her bedroom.
