Sentence handed down in North Carolina hit-and-run crash that killed 18-year-old LDS missionary

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — A man charged in a 2025 hit-and-run that killed an 18-year-old Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints missionary has been sentenced after entering a guilty plea, according to Mecklenburg County court records.

Tyzhaun Carney pleaded guilty to multiple charges tied to the May 1, 2025, crash on Beatties Ford Road, including involuntary manslaughter, two felony hit-and-run counts involving serious injury or death, misdemeanor child abuse, and driving while license revoked.
