Driver in fatal MS student hit-and-run gets suspended sentence

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A Collierville man’s 10-year sentence in prison was suspended in the downtown Oxford hit-and-run accident that killed a University of Mississippi student.

In August 2025, Seth Garron Rokitka pleaded guilty to aggravated DUI and leaving the scene of an accident that claimed the life of 21-year-old Walker Fielder. A judge sentenced him to 10 years in prison, followed by five years of probation.

According to a court order on April 2 of this year, a judge ordered that Rokitka’s sentence in the Mississippi Department of Corrections be suspended and be placed on a five-year post-release supervision.

The court order says Rokitka will be subject to random alcohol and drug testing…
