Bellevue Woman’s Center in Niskayuna to expand services, add midwives this fall

Amid rumors that Bellevue Woman’s Center in Niskayuna could be shutting down, Ellis Medicine leaders say the facility is staying open and preparing to expand care by adding midwifery services later this year.

“Yeah, I will just say that services at Bellevue are not going anywhere,” said Jackie Montgomery, chief nursing officer for Ellis Medicine.

Montgomery said Bellevue Woman’s Center, which focuses on women’s and maternal health, is stable and growing and is in the process of creating a midwifery practice. “It’s an area that we have had a gap here at Bellevue for many years and really looking to supplement the current offerings that we have and allow access in a way that we haven’t had for some time now,” Montgomery said…
